Russian Foreign Minister Sergei
Lavrov will hold a press conference in Moscow on November 25
following the Turkish Air Force shooting down a Russian Sukhoi Su-24
fighter jet on Tuesday, November 24.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that the plane did not violate Turkish airspace and was flying at an altitude of 6,000 meters. Turkey claims that the jet entered their airspace after repeated warnings. Moscow have reacted very strongly to what Ankara claims was a ‘defensive’ action, warning Russian citizens to avoid travel to the country. Lavrov himself was due to be in Turkey, but cancelled the trip following the news of the downed jet.
