More than 50 Russian warships and support vessels are preparing
to begin naval exercises in the Caspian Sea, the Russian Defense
Ministry’s Southern Military District’s press center said Monday.
“At present, the crews have begun developing and completing practical
operations of preparing the ships for sail in the sea and preparing
for combat operations. Over the remaining two months of the winter
training period [March and April], each ship will complete a complex
of ship combat operations and exercises, in which missile and artillery
fire will be used against marine, coastal, and air targets,” the press
service said in a statement.
